Organist and Director of Traditional Music

Jeffry Stearns

Jeffry came to Central 1986 and has stayed ever since.  As Director of Adult Music and Organist Jeff provides musical leadership for the Traditional worship services and for Central Church Choir.  He has played numerous organ recitals for organ dedications and other occasions.  Jeff has also been the organist for Purdue commencements since 1998.  He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree with emphases in Keyboard and Voice from the University of Northern Iowa and a Masters in Educational Administration and Curriculum from Purdue University.

Jeff was a member of the music faculty of West Lafayette Junior/Senior High School from 1984 to 2013 and retired from that position.  During that time he served as Music department leader and K-12 Music Communicator.  Jeff developed and taught courses in Electronic Music and Music Appreciation.  He also taught Music Theory and worked with junior and senior high choristers and junior high orchestra students.  Jeff was a mentor for first year music teachers and was chair of the West Lafayette High School Curriculum Committee.

In addition to his musical work at Central Presbyterian, Jeff now teaches privately and is a Visiting Lecturer in Music at Purdue.
