What We Believe             Who We Are

Central Presbyterian Church is a "Great Commission" outreach church. Our mission is "to be and to make disciples for Jesus Christ."

Central is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA). pcusa_sm.gif (1582 bytes)

Within these documents we find orthodox Trinitarian faith very well stated. We believe in one God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – who created all things. We believe that men and women are separated from God by sin, and that only God’s action in Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection can overcome that breach. We believe that the Holy Spirit lives in and guides those who believe, sanctifying them and producing fruit in their daily lives. We believe that the Scriptures are the unique and authoritative witness to this truth.

In this context, Central lives and worships as a congregation seeking to fulfill the Great Commission, to reach the unchurched people around us with the message that Jesus Christ is the incarnation of God, the savior who delivers us from our sin, our only hope. Central’s faith is evangelical in the classic sense: that it seeks to share the gospel with all persons, to lead each person to a life-changing encounter with the Risen Lord Jesus. We seek to take the teaching of Scripture seriously, to discover and live using our spiritual gifts, to ascribe all praise and glory to God, in worship that assumes a variety of styles. We pray that God will lead us to faithful participation in the mission of Jesus Christ to the world, and that all  we say and do may bring God honor and glory.
