Patti Foster will lead the children in learning “The Three Trees,”

a musical they will present in worship on Sunday, April 11.

Rev. Bill Smutz will lead an adult study on the Philip Newell book,

Christ of the Celts.  Class members are encouraged to order their own books

on Amazon or from a local bookstore.  The class will explore the particular perspective

Celtic Christians have brought to our faith.

In this class young people, Grades 7-9 will explore their faith and consider

becoming adult members of Central Presbyterian Church. They meet at 10 am.

This fun, faith and fellowship group for 3rd-5th Graders, will meet Sunday, February 28,

6:30-8pm.  They will meet in Room 207, the Celebration Station Room.  

Adult Classes

“Finding Jesus in the Movies,” Jennifer Pimmler—teacher, Room 200 (through Feb. 14)

Ever wondered what it is about movies that stirs something deep within us—why they

make us walk out of a theater feeling emboldened, depressed, inspired or touched in ways

we didn’t imagine we could be?  Come and explore the ways Jesus and his redemptive work

show up in recent movies.

“Reading the Newspaper with the Eyes of Faith,” The Rev. Don Nead, teacher

Come and explore the events of daily life from a faith perspective, using the newspaper and the resource, The Wired Word.  Discipleship Room

 

“Just Neighbors,”  Julie Riley, teacher

How can we build a more just society?  This class will examine some of the systemic challenges facing families as they struggle to work their way out of poverty.  Using materials prepared by Family Promise, this class will take a look at some issues faced by many of our urban neighbors.  Room 200

Anamchara, Jeff Cover, teacher

Named for the Celtic word for “soul friend,” this group explores spiritual issues together. They meet on the fourth Tuesday evening of the month at 7 pm.

March is the last month you can join this group for 2010.  Among their topics this year are seasonal spirituality, daily blessings, Benedictine spirituality, praying the Psalms, worship and American Indian spirituality.

 

Celebration Station 

Closely linked to Central's contemporary Celebration! service, Celebration Station offers exciting learning opportunities for people of all ages. To help parents participate in these courses, childcare is provided for children through age 5 each Sunday morning. 

Program highlights include:

  • childcare for children through 2 years of age

·     a Bible storybook program for 4-5 year olds

·     a workshop rotation program for 1st-8th graders

·     study and service opportunities for High School youth
