School Children
(Grades 1-8):
Workshop
Rotation
The Workshop
Rotation provides many ways for children to learn about Bible stories –
through hearing, seeing, and doing – using art, drama, games, cooking, and
video, along with Bible study.
The children are
grouped by age, but do not have a set classroom. Instead,
the classes visit a different “workshop” room each Sunday, for a
“rotation” of 4-5 weeks. By the
end of each rotation, each age group has participated in each activity.
Here’s how the
Workshop Rotation works:
In each room the
children learn about the month’s Bible story in a different way. In one
five-week rotation, the children learn about Abraham, Sarah, and Isaac, through
art, drama, games, cooking, and a video. These workshops work together to teach
the children about faith and trusting God’s promises.
The Workshop
Rotation model offers two kinds of adult participants: Shepherds and Workshop
Leaders. Their responsibilities are as follows:
·
Shepherds stay
with the same age-group each Sunday, guiding them to their workshop for the day
and providing help and guidance through the activities for the day. They are the
consistent, gentle presence for the children.
·
Workshop Leaders
lead one particular activity (art, drama/puppets, games, etc.) on 4-5
consecutive Sundays, each time with a different age group.
