Special Services

As Presbyterians, we recognize all baptisms in Christian churches, and do not require new members be “baptized Presbyterian”.  Baptism is one of our two sacraments, along with the Lord’s Supper, and is an outward and visible sign of the inward and invisible reality that God loves and claims the life of the one being baptized. We baptize infants, children, and adults.  If you are interested in baptism, please contact Pastor Wil, who would be happy to meet with you and talk some more.

The pastor and staff of Central Presbyterian Church are eager to help make your wedding a meaningful, faithful and joyous experience, and ask your careful attention to our guidelines. Careful judgment and study have gone into the church’s preparation of wedding policies and regulations. These policies were formulated by the staff and the Worship and Music Ministry Cluster and approved by the Session.

Our Wedding Policy.

The resurrection is a central doctrine of the Christian faith and shapes Christians’ attitudes and responses to the event of death. Death brings loss, sorrow, and grief to all. In the face of death, Christians do not have to bear bereavement in isolation but are sustained by the power of the Holy Spirit and the community of believers.

The Church offers a ministry of love and hope to all who grieve. As this is the basis of a Christian funeral defined by the Book of Order of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., the Session of Central Presbyterian has set forth a policy on funeral/memorial services which occur at the church.

Primary Arrangements
It is expected that primary arrangements will be made with the pastor. Church members are encouraged to use the church for funeral & memorial services. Just as we are baptized by God in church and have been nourished by God through the church, so it is wholly appropriate that thanksgiving to God for our lives should be offered in church.

Ours is an open table; anyone who wishes to receive the sacrament may do so. We celebrate communion the first Sunday of every month, and all are invited to share the feast. As a church in the Reformed theological tradition, we believe that Christ is spiritually present in the bread and cup, not physically present. We serve bread and non-alcoholic grape juice.
